What is CECO?

CECO is the Children's Education and Charity Organization, currently a fledgling organization based in Sri Lanka created with the specific aim of relieving some of the poverty that is endemic to the island.  The charity's constitution is outlined below.

Constitution:

The primary aim of CECO is to provide the children of Sri Lanka with the skills to find jobs which require the use of computers. CECO operates with a doctrine of empowerment through education. For those whose English is not good enough to follow the courses, CECO provides the relevant English language training.

CECO is specifically targeted at those who are too poor to finance private computing courses. Places will not be provided in exchange for favours or money and are allocated strictly on grounds of the individual’s suitability for the course based on their financial and educational background.

CECO aims to provide equal opportunities regardless of race, religion or gender, discrimination on these grounds is strictly prohibited.

CECO hopes that those students who have benefited through its computer courses will remember the support that they have received and that they, in turn, will contribute towards the development of their community by supporting CECO and similar organisations.
